Mission of bon
bon guides people of a foreign origin on their way to fully fledged citizenship in the Brussels Capital Region.

Vision of bon
bon sees integration as an interactive process. bon offers people of foreign origin a specific programme that enables them to become more self-reliant. The purpose of the integration process is to create full and active participation in society, which contributes to greater social cohesion.

bon’s vision is based on the definition of integration given in the integration decree. Integration is an interactive process and bon’s goal is to improve the interaction between our participants and society.

At bon, integration involves a specific programme in several languages: a social orientation course  that explains life in Belgium and Brussels, a Dutch foundation course, career orientation, individual programme guidance and a range of social participation activities.

The aim of the programme is to increase the participants’ self-reliance so that they are able to function more independently in society.

bon wants to do full justice to the skills of the participants via an integral service.

bon offers an integral service: the programme elements (social orientation, dutch as a second language, career orientation, programme guidance and social participation) are not isolated from each other, but part of a package managed by the programme counsellor.

bon aims to serve its participants in the best way possible by means of a tailor-made low barrier approach.

Anyone who is entitled to an integration programme can come to bon: the highly qualified, the semi-skilled and unskilled, the illiterate, women, men, young and old, active or not active on the labour market. To keep the barrier as low as possible for everyone, bon reimburses childcare and transport costs, for example.

Nobody is a blank page, and that also applies to the person integrating. They all have a number of skills, which bon takes into account as much as possible when designing the integration programme.
It is very important to provide a tailor-made programme in this respect. In every case an individual programme is set out in consultation with the participant.

bon strives to provide services that are demonstrably sustainable and of good quality.

In bon’s opinion integration only serves a purpose if its results are felt in the long term. Thanks to the integration programme, the participants should function better in society in a permanent and demonstrable way. bon traces the paths taken by participants after the programme and monitors them further.

bon is a Brussels-based, pluralist organisation, which operates according to a bilingual charter and the multilingualism of the Brussels Capital Region.

In the first instance bon primarily positions itself as a Brussels-based organisation. The metropolitan and multilingual context of the Brussels Capital Region calls for a specifically Brussels approach, in which cooperation with the Dutch-speaking and French-speaking field of operation takes centre stage. bon is also a pluralist organisation in which people of all religious convictions and philosophies of life are welcome and whose individuality is respected.
